Get the flu shot before flu gets you

There is an infectious virus which rapidly changes itself. Due to this reason the protective flu vaccine gets developed a couple of times during a year. To protect oneself against the influenza virus causing infection, a vaccine has been introduced which is known as the influenza vaccine. This influenza vaccine is also popular as flu shots. The flu vaccines help to develop antibodies inside the body within a couple of weeks post vaccination. This vaccination fights against the viruses.

Reasons why you need to get vaccinated.

Influenza is a dangerous and risky disease which may even cause death. The patient getting affected which influenza is admitted to the hospital as the first step. Each year thousands of people are admitted in the hospital after being affected to this disease. Among them a large proportion of people die due to severe illness. As the flu season varies each year the virus effects people in a different way. As we all know precaution is better than cure, a precaution of this severe illness can be taken through two seasonal vaccinations each year benefiting people with low illness and low death rate.

The working of the vaccine

As stated earlier antibodies are caused within the body post a couple of weeks of vaccination. Much research tells that these flu viruses are going to be the most common infection in the upcoming period. There are vaccines like traditional vaccines for flu protecting viruses of influenza A and influenza B.

The kind of flu vaccines available includes trivalent flu vaccine and quadrivalent flu vaccine, protecting from three types of flu viruses and four types of flu viruses respectively.

Take a note of who should take vaccine this season.

A person of 6 months and above should be vaccinated every season. Since 2010 February 24, the above was recommended when a vote for “universal” vaccination for flu was given by the advisory committee of CDC. Vaccination is also important to those who have a high risk of complications from the infection of flu virus.

Keep the following group away from flu vaccines.

Vaccines are recommended for specific groups which mean that different groups are recommended different doses of vaccines. All the groups are not allowed to get the same vaccine. There are people who cannot take or cannot be given a flu shot, where as there are people who should take the permission or consult a doctor before getting vaccinated.
